Description
On Einstein Giving Day, an anonymous
donor will match all donations to the Clinical Research
Training Program (CRTP) and Institute for Clinical and Translational
Research (ICTR) DOLLAR FOR DOLLAR, up
to a total match of $5,000.
Your contribution will have twice the impact, helping us to provide
educational opportunities for the changing research needs of clinical
scientists at Montefiore Einstein and work to improve the health of the population of the Bronx by
accelerating the translation of research discoveries into better-quality care
addressing urgent public health needs.
The Clinical
Research Training Program (CRTP)
is an intensive two-year program, part of the Institute for Clinical and
Translational Research, and is designed for those pursuing a career in
investigator-initiated, hypothesis-driven clinical research. The CRTP is a
comprehensive program that combines didactic learning
and coursework with a mentored
research experience. The CRTP scholars are drawn from all of
Montefiore Einstein’s medical specialties and subspecialties, including those
interested in clinical investigation across the entire translational research
spectrum, from mechanistic studies to population-based and health services
research. Learn more about our program here.
The Institute for Clinical and
Translational Research (ICTR)
at Montefiore Einstein strives to improve the health of the Bronx, and other
communities that disproportionately suffer from poor health, by accelerating
the translation of biomedical discoveries into effective and sustainable
disease prevention and treatment strategies. We aim to overcome the barriers in
turning discoveries in the laboratory, clinic, and community, into health
benefits for all by providing robust research infrastructure, including critical
research cores and services and offering high-quality and comprehensive
training and career development programs for current and future clinical and
translational research professionals. Learn more about the ICTR here.
Accomplishments and Impact:
- ICTR provides research support to ~1000 projects per year in all disease areas
- Served as a leader in developing the COVID-19 response by supporting 15 multicenter, clinical trials; creating one of first long COVID clinics in the US; helping develop a laboratory assay to diagnose COVID; and using Montefiore Health System data to demonstrate that steroids are effective treatment.
- 280 alumni have received a Masters in Science in Clinical Research Methods from our Clinical Research Training Program (CRTP)
- Lead enrolling site in several clinical trials (diabetes, asthma, etc)
Donations are applied to...
The Clinical Research Training Program
(CRTP) and Institute for Clinical and Translational Research (ICTR)
Why are donations necessary?
Donations will be used to:
- Expand data science initiatives, such as artificial intelligence and machine learning methods to advance prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of medical conditions
- Provide pilot funding to advance translational science projects, such as new lab models to assess drug toxicity, novel and more efficient clinical trials, digital health technologies
- Develop new courses about health equity, community engaged research, and implementation science and identify methods to decrease the time it takes to incorporate research findings into clinical practice
